Let's dive in..
What was your dream job when you were growing up?
Musician 🎸
Tell us about your career journey to date and what led you to FrankieOne.
I started as a Java/.Net Fullstack Developer in Jakarta, working with several companies before deciding to switch to remote work. My first remote role was as a .Net developer for a Dutch venture company, where I developed a client application for their whitelabel VPN product. It was in this role that I fell in love with Golang, and since then, I've been working as a Go developer in various startups.
For the past 5+ years, I've focused on backend development—not intentionally, but because my original passion for programming was the language itself, and backend development aligned perfectly with what I envisioned for my future. After gaining experience in multiple companies, I decided to settle in a product-based company for the long term, which led me to FrankieOne.
What led you to a role in Engineering?
I was looking for a long-term position at a product-based company, and FrankieOne seemed like a great fit at that time. As a Senior Backend Engineer at FrankieOne, I maintain various servers, add connectors, create schedules for automated tests, and most importantly, I get the chance to play online games with the rest of my team 🙂
What do you love about working at FrankieOne?
The people and the culture. I like to be honest at my job and always want to put my family as a high priority at all times. FrankieOne just simply supports that and I really appreciate an employer that cares about more than the daily duties.
What has been your proudest moment so far at FrankieOne?
I think tackling Acuris migration was the most memorable experience for me so far. It was actually the first time I truly learned about FrankieOne’s business and what it entails. And not to forget, my 1-year Frankieversary was an exciting milestone too - I drink out of my mug every day ;)
What are some of your favourite things to do outside of work?
I enjoy watching sci-fi movies—I'm a big fan of the Alien franchise (yes, Alien Romulus is out now) and Iron Man. I also love playing guitar and going on long-distance road trips with my family.
What’s a fun fact that you think people should know?
Chilli has lots of vitamin C, so if you enjoy chilli sauce or sambal (an Indonesian special chilli sauce), you're getting plenty of vitamin C every day.
Do you have any advice for people looking to work at a startup?
Never think that you know everything—codebases change rapidly in startups, which provides opportunities to gain valuable insights when implementing business processes. Don’t keep your thoughts to yourself for too long; communicate with your team and be proactive in asking for help if you need it.
